A friend and I went halvsies on 14 old Singer sewing machines from the early 1900's to 60's. We took a little road trip from Christchurch to pick them up in Rakaia. The man selling them was clearing out a garage piled high of old stuff he found upon buying the house. Turns out the old owner of the house used to call his garage "The Rakaia Free Museum", but had passed away. Here is a description we found online about the museum once home:"Rakaia Free Museum is the history of one mans life which includes outdoor exhibits and over 4000 square feet of indoor exhibits. One hour performances with Nip the Wonder Dog are also available. Open by appointment."
What we'll end up doing with 14 sewing machines is to be determined.
